It offers Zovirax Cream, an antiviral medication, for the treatment of herpes labialis (cold sores); Wellbutrin XL (bupropion hydrochloride) for the treatment of depression in adults; and Cardizem LA, a formulation of diltiazem HCl that provides blood-pressure control. The company also provides Tiazac, which is used for the treatment of hypertension and angina; TiazacXC for the treatment of hypertension; Monocor, a cardio-selective beta-blocker, for the treatment of mild to moderate hypertension and congestive heart failure; Retavase, a tissue plasminogen activator used in thrombolytic therapy; Glumetza for the control of hyperglycemia in adult patients with non-insulin dependent and mature onset diabetes; and Ativan for the management of anxiety disorders, short-term relief of anxiety, or anxiety associated with symptoms of depression. In addition, it offers Vasotec and Vaseretic for the treatment of hypertension, symptomatic congestive heart failure, and asymptomatic left ventricular dysfunction for nearly 20 years; Isordil, a coronary vasodilator, for the prophylaxis of ischemic heart pain associated with coronary insufficiency; and Teveten for the treatment of hypertension. It has strategic alliance with Kos for the distribution of Cardizem LA in the United States. The company also provides research, development, and clinical contract research services to third parties. It sells its products through third parties primarily in the United States and Canada. Biovail Corporation was founded in 1983 and is headquartered in Mississauga, Canada.
